Now that I have your attention, can anyone recommend a good cost effect paint/varnish stripper for teak garden bench? I hear the new compound Nitromors is about as good as cream cheese these days? Jumped ship to reliability - Mitsubishi L200

I’ve had good results with Synstrip, everything else seems to be a waste of time and money.

Sander.
If I remember correctly the oils in teak stop paint and varnish sticking, Teak was oiled not varnished. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

How about a heat gun. You can vary the degree of heat by the distance from the piece.

Without seeing pictures this may not be accurate, but as Teak is a natural oiled wood if you’re having trouble getting paint off there’s a chance it might not be teak.
One of the best things for renovating teak is to Soda Blast it. Whatever you do, don’t power wash teak unless you are really careful otherwise you will start to fray the wood and force the woods own natural oils away from it. |

Paramose
According to the polisher who did some stuff for us recently, this is the best. However it’s sold as professional use only. Google does bring up sellers |
