For cutting through the leather use a punch. You can buy them in many sizes to suit, it will leave a nice clean cut. Drilling it could tear it all up. Ideally you want to go 2mm under the size of the switch, so you get a nice flush finish.
Once the leathers cut, drill the rest out. Best bet would be a forstener bit, cleaner than spade bits. As for connecting your fuse box just use some battery cable with the right ring connectors. Theres enough space on the standard battery connectors to add some extra. In my 90, i mounted the fusebox behind the passenger seat on the bulkhead. Much easier than having it in the battery box. |

Thanks for the advice Bankz5152.
In the end I found a big washer with an 18mm hole in the middle and used that and a scalpel to cut the leather circle and a 20mm forstener bit to make the main hole. Job done. ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Hi Disco-Micky.
That looks really neat, I did think about that location but decided that there may be a possibility of spilt drinks finding there way into the switches so went with the higher position. |
