Storage opportunity under rear seats of 130 Double Cab
The rear seats of a 130 Double Cab are mounted on a big aluminium box fabrication approx 5" high this seems to be wasted storage space, has anyone modified this box to provide additional storage, I assume rear seats of a 110 pick up are the same? 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper

Mine has a storage box under the back seats. He who dies with the most toys wins.

On the 110 the floor under the rear seats is raised to clear the upward curve of the chassis rails and (although I haven't looked) I doubt that there is much room underneath it. I am not sure what the chassis shape of a 130 is but if the upward curve is 20" further back then there probably is.

I find that there is quite a good amount of storage under and behind the back seats in my 110 DC anyway, and I have never understood why the second row in a DC is bolted in place when it has the same catches and hinges as the tiliting seats in a 110 SW or USW. Needless to say, mine is no longer bolted and now tips to allow access to all the junk underneath.

Blindpugh - Thanks, yours is a TD5 any chance you could send a picture of the arrangement under the seat.

Blackwolf - Thanks the curve of the chasis is behind the cabin, so I assume LR just use the same body part on 130 and waste the space, looks like TD5's had a better design. I too have removed the bolts from the back of the seats so they will fold down and expose the storage space behind the seats.

I want more storage for long items, I have demoutable camper and there are always lots of things to be stashed away low down to keep the CofG low.

Thanks,
I can see why LR no longer put the storage hatch in, the mounts for the seats on Puma are massive, not the simple system you have. I will have to investigate further. Thanks for the photo, I'll post one of the Puma arrangement later.
