Fob Battery replacement woes
Morning,
Yesterday as I went to move the truck (Puma 2007) at work and the central locking stopped working!
I have de-locked the drivers door (Layers) Rolling Eyes so had to let myself in through the rear door.
The key worked in the ignition so I moved the truck and went to get a new fob battery. (CR2032 if anyone is interested)

Having been caught out by Fobs before, I googled the correct method of changing the battery and settled on
"Insert key in ignition and turn on, Then off and change the battery as quickly as possible to minimise the time for the fob and immobiliser to fall out of synch."
This took all of 10 seconds and I confidently pressed the unlock button, NOTHING!
So I went into the full four unlocks, NOTHING,16 unlocks, NOTHING!
unlock,lock,unlock,lock .........
Nothing.
In addition the key in the ignition would no longer turn "The red light of doom" off on the dash.
PANIC... Banging Head
I am now stuck at work (Regents Park)
With spare keys/fob at home next to my shiney new Lynx diagnostic!!

Call to a friend (Whilst waiting for the RAC) Who suggested the good old fashioned "Disconnect the battery and leave it off for 10 mins" Idea
reconnected and Eureka !!! all back to normal.
RAC cancelled and only 20 minutes late leaving work.

Moral for me is NOT to start any work whilst away from home/garage and if in doubt TURN IT OFF AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN (Also works for my laptop Very Happy ) "Of Course, Of course, I ain't asking . I'm telling!!"

I do not take the Defender anywhere that involves turning the engine off before I get home again. Thumbs Up
