Easiest way is to remove the diff filler plug and blow gently into the breather hose in the engine bay.
If you need to blow with any pressure at all then it needs removing and unblocking 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Take the filler bolt out the axe, then see if you can blow down the pipe, or use air line gently.

You mean the small plastic pipes at the back of the engine? There’s no way l could get to those to blow down them!

Just lay on the top of your engine. Easy.
Or stick a rubber tube onto it to extend Or use a compressor, gently. Even a computer keyboard blowy aerosol thingy. You will soon hear it if clear. |

Or lift the hood (bonnet) onto the windscreen and lean in and blow into it. Its really is that simple. 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

I tend to do it the other way, i.e., remove the tube from the axle and blow from the axle end to check the tube is clear, then make sure that the axle hole is clear by sticking a piece of bent wire down the hole (even though I can't see any way in which the axle hole can get blocked in the case of the type where the tube is colletted straight into the axle case).

There are three plastic tubes at the rear of the engine above the bell housing. They have bent over tops like the top of a walking stick. One is gearbox, on is transfer box, the other is front axle breathers. They aren’t labled though so need to be investigated which one. They are worth checking that they are clear whilst doing major service. |

Well, l took the breather out of the axle and blew through it using a piece of rubber tube.
It was clear so l guess l need a diff nose oil seal as well. |

I read that as "the Easiest way to remove the diff filler plug is to blow gently into the breather hose". I was wondering what your definition of gently is to blow hard enough to unwind the filler plug with breath alone! 2005 Td5 90 XS 1989 V8 110 CSW |
