Nominal size of cross member threads?
I'm wanting to bolt a tow jaw to the upper four of six threaded "holes" in the centre of the cross member (immediately below the level of the spare wheel). I'm getting hacked off at the uncertainty over the size of bolts required to fix a Dixon Bates tow jaw. Can anyone tell me the thread originally cut into these "holes"? It's not M10 nor M14 so I'm assuming it's M12, but some people are now suggesting it's an imperial size as they can't get bolts to securely fit (engineering isn't supposed to work that way, well, not something that's been done properly!).

The cross member is as original and not galvanised.

Any help is appreciated.

The STD bolts with my swivel eye went straight into those holes - they are sound and nothing special

Your problem is they are different sizes - ive just checked - the top 4 are M12 Mike
