United Kingdom 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Zermatt Silver
Introducing the family wagon
I thought I'd start a post on our new family wagon that we've had for a few weeks now. Share progress as we refine and make a few modifications along the way. Also hoping if I make any howlers as I tackle the mechanics someone will be kind enough to point them out.....

I went for a 2010 that spent the first 8 years of its life in Sydney before it's original owner returned it to the UK. Having spent the first part of it's life in the sunshine it's in great condition with the original chassis all in place..... planning on waxoil or similar over the summer.

Decided to remove the rack that now been sold as it would not fit under the car park barrier in the village. Kids upset to lose the ladder but should improve MPG.....not that that really matters.

The first job done was to replace the bearings and brakes. Brakes needed changing so as preventive maintenance decided to do the bearings as they had done 100,000 miles. Went for a kit from Maltings including new calibres. Also added wheel spacers.

As soon as I've saved up a few pennies they are coming off as god knows how much they weight. It's a hardcore winch bumper that I don't need.

If anyone has any idea what it's worth I'd love to know and stick in the for sales section on here as I'm sure a more serious off-roader would get value from it.

If thats a genuine ARB I might be interested if you fancy a nice low key D44 winch bumper with tapered ends?

I believe they are ARB bull bars. No markings on them but found identical looking ones on the net. They are super solid. Some of the power coating has come off but with a bit of TLC as good as new. Thanks for the offer of another bumper but Iā€™m going back to an original style number but with spots in it. Happy for you to make me an offer.

Some better pics of the bull bars. The number plate is currently covering the winch slot.

Quick shift and rear wheel lock fitted.

I need to respray my centre caps so will give this a spray in due course to match the wheels. A can of paint is on order.

Really pleased with the quick shift, it makes the box feel so much sharper. Highly recommend anyone thinking about it.

I also decided it was about time the lad earned his supper..... New air filter going in.
