so I need to pump something up in the house to 3bar......
using a foot pump is proving painful and the item is up in the air and my little chicken breast pecks are done for..... anyone see an issue with rigging up the c-tek charger onto the 12v compressor that typically pugs into the 12v cigar / socket to do the pumping?  |

erm...does that depend on the charger. I think I've got the 7amp jobby. .....just checked the compressor it's - 10amp  |

IIRC my 12V compressor (ARB twin) pulls around 60 Amps when running. I doubt that you'll run any compressor of a charger, although I suppose you might if it is a accessory-socket compressor (although one of those once melted the socket in my Disco2).
You could take the battery out of a vehicle and use that. Alternatively you could pressurise a receiver of some kind at the vehicle and then take the pressurised receiver in the house. |

OR drag that spare car battery in the garage/shed out, connect the charger to that for an hour or two, then run the compressor off that.

Or treat yourself to a small mains compressor.
Lidl have some in next week if you can wait. And they have a 3 year guarantee. Not really big enough for powering hungry air tools, but handy for blowing up tyres or interior pressure vessels

I have the Suaoki U10 L.I. Jump Starter with a 12v cigarette lighter adaptor, it powers my compressor easily and I no longer have to plug it into the car and drag the cable about.
I’m sure it would do the job. You can also get 240v to 12v transformers for powering portable fridges that has the cigarette plug and that would also work. |

thanks guys. I suddenly remembered where I could get hold of an old car battery (save me taking it out of the car). anyhow grabbed it hoping there was still some charge in it and yes with the help of my daughter operating the compressor (a Ring jobby - I'm not suggesting they're great but for the cost and occasional use I reckon you could do worse) and me hold the cigar / aux plug against the battery and a long screw driver - hey presto job done. didn't have a suitable bike pump. and yes it was for an expansion vessel. had some bad luck with em. the first one that was installed didn't last too long and if I remember right it was for vertical installation but was installed horizontally and this the second one hasn't been in long...turns out the valve was leaking and just needing tightening up. 
hopefully no more water leaks now |
