BMW 335D conversion
So i have a short list of parts i would need for this conversion to go smoothly.

But i like to be difficult and get the most out of my time. So i am looking ot fit a 2013 or newer 335D engine into my Defender.

I need the following

P38 Bellhousing
P38 input shaft for R380
Harness adapter for BMW
Throttle pedal from Mini Diesel
Engine mounts from P38, supposedly

What else would i need?

I recently rebuilt my R380 and LT250 with all Aschroft parts, and oil coolers.

I read the TD5 Rad and intercooler will fit fine, and i need an oil cooler for the engine oil.

I will also purchase Hybrid cartridges for the turbos, so i may see the most gain from my upgrade.

Am i missing anything else?

Fuel pump in tank? Has the BMW engine the same? Or with the same power/pressure? The same with diesel filter. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

Harness adapter for BMW
Throttle pedal from Mini D

in terms of ecm - is it that straight forward? or will the ecm side of things make this almost impossible?

good luck whatever and look forward to seeing progress in due course Thumbs Up

Wow, I would guess the wiring would be the biggest hurdle with this, I know how complex they can be, good luck and very interested in your project, they are a cracking engine.

I had a 2014 335D, absolutely amazing engine amd drivetrain, stupidly quick for 40+ MPG!

Good luck with the project, it will be amazing.

Yes they are a strong powerful engine, I run a 435d everyday and it’s fast and economical. Some clever person should be able to sort out the EWS and harness, I did install a M52 motor in an old E30 and had a harness and ECU made to delete the alarm and immobiliser, keep the updates coming and have a look on facebook where loads of guys are doing M57 conversions into defenders.
