Same fault here a couple of years back, new master cyl didn't change anything (it's a much easier task to do yourself), end result was that I had a faulty slave cylinder.
Pretty common once your vehicle hits a certain age, basically a consumable, depending on age you may want to replace clutch while you (or your local mechanic) are in there. Pretty good time to replace master anyway, as you'll only have to bleed once, and it stands to reason it's just as worn. Fiiinally, if you have any transmission clunk that UJs, halfshafts, diff, flanges etc, haven't fixed then you may want to have a think about upgrading to the HD output shaft fix from Ashcroft also - this is the time to do it all... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

Thanks Agentmulder & Keffer90
I'm beginning to come to the same conclusion. Given the minimal cost of the master cylinder I think I'll chuck a new one of those on first and see how I get on. Shame really as its only 32k mile from new (and had a replacement clutch under warranty at about 12k) so shouldn't really need a new clutch. But I guess if its a g/box off job I may as well do the lot, including output shaft upgrade. Thanks for sharing your experiences fellas. Staftly |
