Doesn't the TD5 alternator also have a vacuum pump for the brakes?
If you have to increase the length of vacuum pipe it could effect the brakes in a negative way, but I'm not sure. |

Yes it does have the vacuum pump, but there should be no problem extending the vacuum pipe provided suitable pipe is used. What would be harder is extending the oil feed and return lines for the vacuum pump.
Most twin alternator installations leave the original alternator and add a conventional (non-vac) second alternator. You could disconnect the original alternator's wiring and just use it as a pump, or you could fit an electric vacuum pump. |

One question - looking for any info of placement second alternator in place of ACE (hydraulic controlled suspension used on Discovery 2) pump. I have A/C in our 130, so it is not possible to place the alternator instead of the A/C compressor. But there is some "empty place" used for ACE hydraulic pump. I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so any info is good. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo
