I saved up all my pennies and went for the Alisport / Sonic model. Expensive, yes, but as I have a double cab, did not want to bolt an arm through the tub.
The one I have is entirely mounted on the rear crossmember and is a serious bit of kit - WAY over engineered. 2001 TD5 110 DCPU in Bonatti Grey |

Just bear in mind that not all swing away wheel carriers fit with all rear bumperettes etc. Check for compatability.
Some wheel carriers have wheel centred on door some shift them sideways towards offside. Ensure you get a wheel carrier with grease nipples fitted. Then do you want the wheel carrier galvanised prior to powder coating? High lift jack mount? The Kaymar is a good wheel carrier but is expensive, I think it might be even more expensive then Sonic/Alisport one which certainly appears to have a good reputation. Then you go to Safari Equip, Mantec etc. I would avoid ebay elcheapo specials however. On the back of our 110s we have Safari Equip ones (moves wheel off centre) One has seen some serious use over 8 years and is still good. hth Brendan |

Second vote for the Sonic Carrier. It's so sturdy mine deflected an over-eager Peugeot with barely a scratch

The new safari equip one is VERY solid (and fits with their own bumperettes) but not out in the market yet. its far more robust than the mantec one. It's similar to the naka one in terms of thickness of steel.
I've seen a sonic one which is also excellent though the downside is its far more money than the others. I like the kaymar one too but the unlatching of both would be a pain as far as I'm concerned and for a non-pick up I'd have the new SE one or the naka. |

Third vote for Sonic - can't be faulted. Mine needed a little bit of customising to allow the rear flap of my Ifor Williams top to clear the 285 on the carrier (an easy mod, details on request).

I have a Kaymar, it is robust and user friendly. Generally I forget about the price , but the perception of quality remains.
However if you are not subjecting your vehicle to corregations suppose anything that takes the weight off the back door will be fit for perpose. |

Ta for that Mike, I have just called SE and he can supply the new type that just fits on the chassis with about a weeks notice. He hasn't put pictures up on the web site as he hasn't got it sorted yet for all vehicles but they are available on request. If they are as good as the bumperettes and snorkel I will go with them I like the idea that it is fixed to the chassis only so you don't have to drill anymore holes in the bodywork I'll have to wait a while before readies are available |

£295 + VAT It attaches to the crossmember and uses existing holes in the rear door.
How much is a Sonic, Mantec etc folks How does it compare price wise? |
