Swivel leaking
Got the truck up on a ramp yesterday and spotted my nearside swivel seal is leaking (plus the rear pinion seal, which was only replaced five months ago!!)

Based upon the picture; do you reckon I should get the seal replaced? Is that quite a lot of grease to lose?

Nearside and offside for comparison, plus the rear diff leak.

Kind regards
Stu

I wouldn't be unduly worried about the swivel seal Stu but I'd certainly get that rear input seal changed. You may need a new drive flange too if the seal has worn a groove in it.

When you change input seal check axle breather is not blocked and the build up of pressure is the cause

Cheers chaps

When I had the dinitrol treatment at Broad Lane Land Rovers (who I would whole heartedly recommend) they changed the pinion seal for just the cost of the seal. They said at the time I’d probably need to change the flange too, but they didn’t have the flange in stock at the time and I needed to get the truck back, so couldn’t wait for it to be delivered.

I’ll keep an eye on the leak and look to replace the seal + the flange once I’ve saved the pennies! 2011 CSW XS 90

Think I’ve got brand new seal and flange in a box in the garage if interested. I think they are different on Td5s so no use to me any more

Andy.

I would change the seal and flange on the rear diff input, about £20 Or so.

I would also change the swivel seal and the actual swivel if it's damaged in any way. Cheers
