Thinking back to my Ser 11 2.25 petrol it would cruise all day at around 50mph and even reached a heady 70 from time to time!
I'd be looking at the engine and drive train before larger tyres - it's not stuck in low range is it?

I run 7.50x16 tyres on my Series 2a short wheel base which are fine. A standard size so shouldn't cause you too many issues. Thumbs Up
Assuming you have smaller tyres, the 7.50x16 tyres should give you a slightly higher top speed but if your top speed is 30 there might be something else wrong too? BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group

45 is absurdly slow. Even a 2.25 diesel should be happy up to about 55. Is it stuck in low range? Has someone fitted a forward control gearbox? 2011 110 USW

Is the speedo accurate, because very few are, get someone to check your speed against theirs or use a sat nav to see how accurate the fitted speedo is. Is it actually flat out at 45, or is it just the noise you're going on. The diesels are noisy, but they should be comfortable at 50 - 55 as a cruising speed, more with an overdrive on the flat Retired from the day job and now self employed - what a life!!
