They really do have many use (I don’t have and photos) but I use mine for:
Storing things out of sight Smaller items to stop them roaming the entire boot are Dogs towels and lead etc My GoPro and work bags fit in nicely Items I want access to easily when we’re on the move with a boot full (family items not recovery gear) Russell 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |

I'd say they're almost essential in a pickup, and I use mine much like Russ uses his. Basic tools, spare bulbs and general clutter that you wouldn't want in the cubby box or loose & visible in the back.

Many thanks Mines a CSW but I get your point.
Does anyone feel the drawers actually hinder their storage space? Less able to get bigger items in the 'boot'? i.e. drawers only useful for smaller items etc. Thanks again |

Mine is in a USW.
It can feel in the way on odd occasion but not enough to make me remove it. You do need to remember the draw top will have a load limit before it starts to deform. Russell 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |

I just have a removable plywood floor in my station wagon. Allows flexibility to take out for bigger stuff or to put the rear seats in.
We keep tents under it when camping so the can easily be first out last in. |

Yes a bit. When I had a 90, but in the same way you can store loads of small things with having to move them all, or loads of boxes to put the bigger item in. In my new (to me) 110 I’m going without draw as I have loads of additional space, and like the lower load floor. |

I had a shiny Masai drawer in my 110 for long enough for me to realise they were very inefficient in space utilization. I now have a built-in platform made from buffalo board on which the dog crate resides, and use the void beneath for shotgun / beating stick storage during the season or for 4 x equipment storage boxes at other times.
Maybe it was just the Masai one but it was extremely heavy, made from very thick wood and the space within it was pretty paltry when you consider it took up all of that space. I imagine a steel one would be more space efficient. |

I used to have a couple of ‘Really useful boxes’ in the back of mine but whenever we went out for the day or camping, they would end up buried at the back. I’d constantly be shifting stuff around to get to them. I built a couple of ply drawers for the back of mine and they are so much better than the boxes. The only draw back (excuse the pun) is that they make the load bed about 300mm higher. 2002 Defender 110 CSW TD5

Box of electrical tools and spares Box of mechanical tools and consumables Box of brew making stuff Two boxes of recovery kit Emergency kit It's the one that stay in full time for days out and the like and when i'm on overland trips, i add another draw above with crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. 2003 Zambezi Silver TD5 110 XS SW overland prepped.... 2004 Santorini Black TD5 110 XS SW left hooker for sale! 2004 Alpine White TD5 110 left hooker (work in progress) |

The issue that put me off i youre then limited to the drawer. Everything has to be packed into it. I carry a lot of tools so i need "open" space rather than "set" space if you see what I mean? All depends on what you use yout boot for! Instagram @defender_ventures

Sorry to resurrect this one, but I'm still struggling to get a set up that fits my needs, namely enough storage space whilst also having a dog crate.
Does anyone know if a vertical luggage/ Load space Partition was made for the Defender? I'm looking at getting a draw system that will allow me to have a flat floor across the wheel arches. This should allow me to push the dog crate to the left hand side leaving room for luggage etc on the left hand side. Ideally there would be a partition between the luggage and the dog crate. Thanks! How about making your own? I have half the back for the dogs and drawer, half open.
