Horses for courses...you pays your money etc etc After looking at this in details and weighing up the odds I decided not
to take the extended warranty up and to self insure by putting the premium (s) to one side. So far so good. 1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue 1967 Morris Traveller 1966 Morris Convertible 2012 VW T5 Camper Quod Abundat Non Obstat. |

Thanks both.
Kept it down to the wire, then finally went for it with the 3rd anniversary in just a few days. If I didn't go for it, I would have probably needed it and now that I have, probably won't need it APK MY2016 110 Adventure Corris Grey MY1997 110 County Station Wagon 300 Tdi Alpine White |

I have the extended warranty and I’m glad I do, think it also depends if you have a good rapport with your main dealer to get the maximum benefit from it 2015 HT XS 90

I have an extended warranty on my 2014 USW.
Had it nearly two years and the insurance company at present is winning the bet. I have paid them more than I have got paid out. Saying all that, it gives me peace of mind. |

Hope you get it sorted APK.
Extended warranties work better if you have a rapport and good relationship with your main dealer, I know before everyone jumps down my throat and calls them main stealers and tells me their servicing is expensive, if you look at the bigger picture and have supported them up to the end of your initial warranty they will I have certainly found look after you and even more so then if you take out an extended warranty, yes I continue to use them for my servicing but it’s give and take. The list of “warranty” repairs I have had done at zero cost to me have been outstanding from my main dealer, not once has anything I have asked for been refused or turned down or not done to my satisfaction and I’m very fussy, but my main dealer are even fussier and take tremendous pride in their work. One example being 8 days in their workshop finding and sealing water leaks, the technician worked tirelessly to seal every leak and did an amazing job and at no charge to me and my Defender was returned immaculately to me fully valeted and for the 8 days I had an Evoque loan car. Another example I called in to ask advice how to remove the lower backdoor hinge to change them to the Optimill ones and they said bring them in and we will do if for you at no cost and they did one Saturday morning as I sat and drank their coffee. I’m a big fan of my extended warranty and will continue to renew it every time I can and I will continue to support my main dealer by using them to do my servicing. 2015 HT XS 90 2008 SVX 90 2000 XS TD5 90 |

back in the day I might have had similar sentiments.
only the local dealer used to employ double amputee monkeys (or at least I assume so) and as such you can imagine the standard of workmanship (or should that be workmonkeysh1t ?) I'd count yourself very lucky. |

Sulisuli, out of interest which dealer do you use in South West? I've been well looked after in last 3 years for fixes with my 90 whilst still in warranty by Taunton Landrover, but haven't gone for extended warranty after previous experience I had with the 110 where they wouldn't fix a seeping steering box at 40k whilst I had an EW in place. LR Warranty provider had view that it wouldn't fail an MOT, just an advisory: and TLR didn't do anything to push, despite having had all the servicing work done there. This time with the 90, it's money in the bank, and there are some good independents if anything goes wrong. Keep it simple - poverty spec.

Roger Youngs based at Saltash in Cornwall. First class dealership. Others on the forum use them too and also speak very highly of them. 2015 HT XS 90

Thanks Sulisuli, it has taken more than 1 month (mid Jan-end Feb), but after much to and fro, and re-reading and interpreting of the warranty T&Cs, managed to get everything done within manufacturers warranty and she is finally back with me. - Rear screws (on both sides) corroded - Replaced - Rear step corroded - Replaced - Off-side rear door area (underneath rubber door seal) – friction between rubber seal and frame has removed paint showing corrosion - Repaired - Near-side rear door area (underneath rubber door seal) – friction between rubber seal and frame has removed paint showing corrosion - Repaired - Both near-side and off-side window billets corrosion under paint - Replaced - Front bumper corrosion inside - Replaced - Rear door corrosion bottom inner-side - Repaired door and replaced rubber seal - Oil leak - Repaired In true LR dealer style though some left a bottle of cleaning fluid on the pimento leather seats, it leaked and ruined the leather. They have promised to replace, so she will be back in a few weeks Agree completely, it all depends on the relationship with key people in the dealership. There are people who are accountable and take pride in their work, but there are very few and far between. Suggest you get some 3M Heli tape fitted to stop the seals rubbing through again.
