I recently bought the Hawkeye which is unlocked to all land rover vehicles so it works on my '08 Defender and my '14 Freelander.

Any cheap scanner will tell you the code, but no description and most won't clear it once you've fixed the issue.
I use ForScan, free software designed for Ford engines. All you need to buy is a £20 USB to OBD2 cable (it has to be the right spec though so check the ForScan site). I got mine from eBay off the back of a thread here. You can read/reset all codes and see their descriptions. Also execute service functions such as pump learn. Also see live data, save it, graph it - great for comparing before and after a part change. I think they are developing a mobile app one day I read. Only downside is it won't connect to 10AS alarm unit, as it's designed for Ford, but unless you want that feature you can save a load of cash. I also use the software on my old man's Transits and the Mrs Fiesta. It's amazing and never had an issue! Now: 2010 2.4 TDCi 110 Utility Wagon Then: 2004 2.5 TD5 90 Hard Top (X-Tech Edition) |

I would not take cheap stuff, but something suitable. I have the nanocom and am very satisfied. Scope see here: https://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com/produc...7-2014-kit |
