Defender MPG
How many miles per tank (td5 90) ? My old hardtop td5 would from memory do about 350 miles per tank, standard running 235 bf mud terrains. My 90 Xs with roof rack running 265 bf ko2s is only getting 280 -290 to a tank. Roughly 24-25 mpg!

What do you guys get?

There are plenty threads on this so maybe do a quick search. Here is a screen shot of my last few full ups. I run a 110 with cage and roof rack. 265 bf all terrains. I run the tyre pressures quite high and my economy has improved by a couple of mpg round town. The 30mpg was sat at 50mph on the autoroute in France for a couple of full tanks...really boring but proves 30mpg is possible out of a fully loaded 110 with rack

I normally get around 300 - 320 miles per tank, varied trips from a couple of miles to maybe 30 or so, doesn't seem to make a lot of difference.
My 90 has a stage 2 remap from Alive along with EGR delete and Decat so it has a fairly nippy performance which I like to make use of at every opportunity Whistle

26-28 mpg around town from my mildly remapped 110TD5 SW.

Fairly consistent over the last 50,000 miles. Driving around Spain last year observing their low speed limits we achieved 32mpg.

25.4mpg over 27,000 miles. Mixture of driving but it's a 110 with a roof rack and a stage 2 map. Since fitting mud tyres I seem to be getting 23-24mpg. 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop

The official urban MPG figures are around 24mpg depending on version so anybody who is getting over 25mpg l would say you are doing fine.

I usually fill up around 310ish miles with a fair bit more left. Usually works around 30mpg when I do the conversion and I am sad enough to check on every fill up lol! I do a fair few short runs too.
Was up to 32/33mpg on longer runs in the summer.

Standard 2004 90 county station wagon.

You are doing well, l never managed that MPG with either of our 90 TD5
One bought new.

But it is possible, as we found when touring Spain where l achieved 32mpg in our 110 TD5 SW
You just need to drive slower!

For instance in Spain there’s a 30mph limit EXITING roundabouts so effectively stopping you from accelerating away. And there’s almost no traffic in rural Spain, so you don’t have to keep slowing down/speeding up or overtaking etc.

I am probably one of the more leisurely paced people on the roads, another reason I like Defender's, don't feel the need to rush! Smile

110 Hardtop Td5 15p with roofrack, hardshell tent and snorkel, consistently checked from 100k to 145k km:
best: 31,2 mpg
worst: 20,0 mpg
average: 26,6 mpg

I use the excellent Fuelio app on my Android phone to keep track.

The two spikes are a very leadfooted drive in the Iceland inlands, and a fuel return pipe that got loose after being badly connected during a FPR repair.

From my experience a TD5 does around 24 - 26 MPG and a 300TDI does around 28 - 30 MPG.

26 MPG... and thats on Tesco crap with half a bottle of redex per fill (fill from 25% to 75%)
20P a mile...

In fact its strange... if i measure how many miles i did on my previous tank its 26, but if i do how many litres it is to fill up then its 34...

Am i supposed to take the mean of the readings and then work in my milage?

Obviously my MPG will only get more accurate as i collect and collate more data. I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/
