Britpart items fitted to my sister’s 90 maybe 2 months ago. Might be worth considering some corrosion protection, she’s not worried about minor cosmetics though!

Hmm - I painted mine in quite a few coats of satin black before fitting. No sign of corrosion.

Do Britpart do an equivalent to the 110 shafts? (LR072977 & 072976)
Sorry, just found them on island4x4 (https://www.island-4x4.co.uk/halfshaft-rear-britpart-tob500030-lr072977-p-37449.html) HMmm double edit; these seem to be for a 90, not 110 triple edit.... island4x4 show the same part number for a 110 also (https://www.island-4x4.co.uk/halfshaft-rear-110130-britpart-tob500030-lr072977-p-37448.html).... I was under the impression 90's were different from 110/130 ones... |

Could you use Buzzweld (same as the rear crossmember kit) to protect them, and spray them before fitting? Keith

I think I am just going to smear them with coppaslip like the road wheel flange facing.
That’s should stop it getting bad. 2015 90 XS Santorini Black |

There's always something needing done......
Inspired to go and check mine having read through all of the discussion, now added to the list of things to be done when the weather is a bit warmer. Keith |

That's just what I did this week. Found that both sides are worn, OS more than NS. Got britpart onepiece replacements as they where about £50, compared to £350 each for genuine! Looks like a case of whip out the old and slap in the new. |

The OS was more worn on mine too on the rear, seems to often be the case regardless of 1piece or two.
Since I replaced mine with Ashcroft all around. (Except CV's etc.) mine has been transformed. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

The offside shaft on a Defender will almost always wear faster and be more likely to break than the nearside due to being shorter and hence less elastic. There will be the odd exception but in general this will be the case.

I wonder if roundabouts maybe anything to do with it? After all there are a lot of them.
After all the NS would spin that bit faster and the OS that bit slower in a clockwise roundabout. Is there the same occurance on the front on a regular basis? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
