Changing power steering pump
Changing a power steering pump

Mine is making a bad noise and power steering is a bit lame to say the least
So I’m predicting / hoping that’s what’s wrong,

I think, remove viscous fan and aux belt, take the pulley off the front of the pump and unbolt it of the block ?

Or have I had a dream it should be this straight forward Rolling with laughter

Any tips or tricks always appreciated of course

Almost forgot to say it’s a 51 plate 90 TD5

And I don’t suppose anyone’s got a good one for some tokens ? As could really really do without spending around and upwards of £100 just now

Thanks in advance to all that chip in with comments

Main thing is PLEASE take care out there folks , for the first time today I’m not emabarrassed to say I’m a little scared about it all, and I’m classed as a frontline worker on the railway so business as norm

Best wishes

Richard

Richard,
Pretty much as you described. Drain the PS fluid, remove viscous fan and belt, remove pully and then the 5 retaining bolts (10mm). Remove the pipe jubilee clip from the outlet and the inlet pipe nut.
The pump just lifts away from the keyway.
You can do it without removing the viscous fan and leaving the pulley in place if you have small sockets/spanners but I wouldn’t recommend it!
I have a working pump you can have for the cost of postage but you will need to swap the O ring from the outlet pipe of your existing pump. I foolishly stripped the outlet pipe off and lost the O ring and couldn’t find a replacement that did not leak.
If you want the pump pm me your address.
Andy
