Gatwick drone nonsense
Well, I was thinking it was some muppet with an early Christmas present from Argos, but now it seems to be more of a targeted and cordinated attack, as it’s been on the go for 24hours.

What I dont understand is why there are no news channels trying to get a shot of these drones. There’s been no news cameras on the airfield side at all, they’ve all been in the terminal. I wonder if there is some sort of D-notice in effect.

Is anyone nearby? Have you seen these things flying? I’m sure the conspiracy nuts will be out soon enough.

I can't imagine that news crews would be allowed to wander around airside. In any case, the real activity will be outside the perimeter, looking for the drone pilot(s). Darren

I did wonder if it was Corbyn trying to distract the media from his "stupid ...." remark!

Corbyn is an idiot and a spineless one at that. He should have just admitted he called her a “stupid woman” . Very few would have disagreed. She’s been called far worse than that by members of her own party and they weren’t wrong either.

Especially if it wasn’t true, he’d be more convincing then since he’s part of the professional liar political classes.

Probably a couple of cheap ones on eBay in the Gatwick area this week.

Was having an argument with someone on the twitters that claimed the drones were petrol powered. Prize b3ll3nd.

Exactly my point, there’s plenty of places around the airport, Lowfield Heath for example, where you can see the runway from the public highway. Surely one camera crew would have wanted a shot of the drones. But nothing, just irate tourists.

I got some great pictures with my new drone the other day, thought it was odd no Planes flying?

Was it a strike day.

Joking aside, I see no reason why it wasn't take out sooner?

As for finding the person(s) responsible, very difficult if they have set the drone to just follow way points using the GPS. so not actually being controlled by the receiver.

I'm guessing from this all larger Drones will need to be registered with a serial number being allocated to the owner.

I'm pretty sure DJI drones (which I have a Phantom) will not allow it to be flown near an airport as they are geo-fenced however the user of this one has obviously disabled this or it never had it. It may also have been modified so it could not be jammed as easily on the frequency.

I'm amazed it was allowed to continue so long when other countries have numerous means of taking them out.

The worrying thing is this could start others doing silly things with them I guess?
