A guy with an older Porsche used to park like that in out local supermarket. To be honest I didn’t blame him as it was a nice car.

Greedy supermarkets provide small spaces to profit on more people (read the book called Tescopoly) . I don't blame anybody parking to minimise mum/elderly/kid door damage.

I'll drop this one in here too, as it amused/bemused me...
The local Co-op has a designated "ATM" parking space for a cash point (closest to the entrance) then "Family Parking", wide spaces adjacent to that, and then "disabled", sorry I mean "less able" spaces adjacent to that, never quite understood why in that order but I digress... They then installed CCTV to enable them to fine anyone who parks incorrectly, possibly a good thing. However, a recent case made the local news where a family, two parent and a child, parked in the "Family Space". One parent got out to shop the other stayed in the car as the child was asleep in the back. They got fined! Right or wrong....? Unless it's a very old car park, planning regulations require spaces to have a minimum standard size of 4.8m x 2.4m. The problem is more likely that cars have, on average, got bigger since the standard was created. Here is another proud owner I spotted in a local public parking trying to protect, etc. etc....
You have ‘em with all car brands. Eric Click image to enlarge You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

It's worth reading Tescopoly, you'll find Tesco will often ignore planning regs, or just butter councils up and write their own rules. You're right about car sizes though..... Unless we all buy a JIMNY |

I've been tempted to park like that, because there are so many "don't care" owners about who don't care about their own car, & even less about yours. But I never would, it incites rage and maybe a little damage to your car, keying etc, so nope, I'd never do it! But I will go to the end of the earth to find a "safe" park!
