Shouldn’t be leak8ng at all, and needs to be a sealed system to work most efficiently.
Big question is where is it leaking from? |

The reservoir cap is common spot, but you can usually see that easily. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Are you 100% sure it's coolant and not condensate from air con. As stated above it should be a sealed system. Defender 90XS SW

Yeahhh..
It doesnt over heat or anything soo.... The actaully cap is fairly new as the old one was faulty and it was bubbling inside the tank...so replaced that and its all good apart from this leak from dont know where! Hah |

As long as the level keep at the right amount that would be the most important thing i guess,
Also is there anywhere i can buy a coolant level tester from??? That shows if its the right strength and if there is a leak or not? Thx |

Try and trace the source of where it’s coming from. Definitely sounds like coolant to me. Check radiator and waterpump nearer the floor side ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

Ive just taken a picture of the tank,
If its just coming out from the cap ... i dont know why there would be a puddle on the floor when the engine hasnt been running all weekend!?!? Click image to enlarge (Any ideas) |

Ive come across this on amazon..
Seems to have plenty of good reviews...but obviously if its the cap it wont make a difference! Its a 236ml bottle and treats up to 12 cyclinders so would that be enough for a defender 2.4 engine? Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Have you ever changed the header tank?
If not, I’m wondering if your issue is that rather than the cap. Perhaps the threads are not good and or the top edge lip to cap needs to be perfect seal for the cap to work properly. There could be a manufacturing defect. I assume it looks okay though? ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

The expansion tank caps are a bit of a known problem and when mine started to show signs of failure, I replaced it with an Iveco version, which is reputably more robust:
Click image to enlarge They're not particularly cheap and tracking one down that I could buy on line was a bit of a challenge, but I eventually sourced it from a website called 'Vexi', which is an online store operated by Norfolk Truck & Van Ltd: www.vexi.co.uk/parts/iveco/view/I99489567/plug Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Ok thanks.
I will have a look, does it have the same pressure rating? But why would it leak out of thw cap onto the floor when the engine is cold and not running? Ive emailed Dan@Duckworth and asked for a whole new tank and pipes, As i will be replacing it..i guess i will need more proper coolant, how many litres does the 2.4L take? |

Yeah, it works exactly the same as the original, without leaking of course.
If it really is just your cap, it could be something to do with the way it cools and the liquid collects before dripping off.
