so it would appear my emissions would easily pass the 2014 requirements let alone the two preceeding requirements
![]() ![]() ![]() would be interested to know what emissions are typical for 2.2 and pretty good in so much that if I'm not mistaken my 2.4 is the same as a 2007 2.4 so pretty damn good huh? |

Just a thought on this and it only really relates to tdci models. I've not heard of anyone failing the emissions test - has anyone and what was the issue?
I presume none have been the result of a re-map? Just curious if failing on emissions is something of a time gone-by ie mech pumps and carbs? |

I'd have thought that was pretty ok (but then what do I know). I'd have expected a tdci to be significantly better than a td5 and a td5 better than a tdi.
I my understanding is the evolution of these engines is largely driven to emissions. ![]() |

That 1.5 is the fast pass limit, i.e. If it gets under that first go, then it'll pass. If it's above, then you have two more goes, and the average for the three, has to be below 3.0. ( because it's a turbo). ? Don't ask me why. 'Volvo XC 70, taking the rough with the smooth’

Failing emissions is down to either poor maintenance or a fault somewhere, not age or engine type.
Even my ancient Tdi with 346k on the clock passes first time, and has done every year for the ten MOTs I’ve put on it. |

^^^or maybe quality of fuel?
Last year reading at MOT time was 0.1. This time 0.51. However, this time I had just run through last ¾ tank of Diesel from Asda. Ran the tank to almost empty and filled up with BP Ultimate and after roughly ¾ tank went back to test emissions and it read 0.18. Maybe just coincidence, but I know next time hat I will be running before MOT. That is with 170k on a 2.4tdci running a BAS remap with no egr, no cat and no middle silencer. |

It makes you wonder how strict they are, seems to a lot of stinking/smoking vans and diesel cars on the road that are within 10 years old....

Is this current , mines a 1996 so it would be 3.0 , yet on the MOT it says 1.5 as the limit . |

My smoke test this week on my 200 Tdi yielded a score of 0.14. I'm quite happy with that.
