Does anyone know what this wire is for? I have searched and searched but can't find any reference to it.

I think you're right Badger. Should track back to the 10AS unit. Stu...

Looks non-standard to me. And I don't think the 10AS is located there?
Aerial coax perhaps? |

Mine is the same age/model as yours and does not have that wire behind the dash.
So if you bought it second hand blame a previous owner. If you bought it new blame the erratic parts supply to the Land Rover production line. |

if it's just sort of hanging behind the clock I have the same and it's the aerial for the remote.
I thought it was dodgy until a internet search took me here - http://defender90xs.blogspot.com/2014/11/r...nsion.html Cheers, Andy... Edinburgh, Scotland http://24heuer.com |

That is not the 10AS aerial wire. I imagine that it is an aerial wire for the ICE.

I have the same and mine goes to the 10AS... whether that is how it should be or not, or even if it's a Land Rover mod, I don't know. 1 point though - I didn't see a clip on mine. Cheers, Andy... Edinburgh, Scotland http://24heuer.com |

Interesting! Let me rephrase my earlier post in that case: There is nothing remotely resembling that wire on my 2007 TDCi and the 10AS aerial is in a different place and looks nothing like that. If that is connected to the 10AS it is completely different to the setup on earlier vehicles. Is it possible that vehicles that have the non-Lucas copy of the 10AS have this different arrangement? It's hard to tell from the photo whether the wire is a plain wire or coax. If the latter it cannot be an aerial (although it could be connected to an arrial), so I imagine it is a single conductor. |
