Hello, just wondering if any anyone has excessive oil on their air filter, doesnt run a catch can and has tried this:
If there's a lot of oil then its probably the bolt that that fastens down through the top of the front rocker pedestal to prevent the rocker shaft from sliding out (its a common problem easily sorted) it gets loose and oil (more than normal) gets blown up the filler neck and into the manifold where it then runs back down past the EGR butterfly and into the airfilter box remove the rocker cover and tighten the bolt if you take the oil filler cap off with the engine running you'll notice the amount of oil that gets blown out (if its anything more than a really fine mist then check the above) which i found on ford transit forum here: https://fordtransit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=163398 i havr read through here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic28919-45.html and it seems have had an issue enough to fit a catch can. When i changed the air filter on my new to me 50k 2.4 the air filter had alot of oil on the the engine side of the filter. since changing it i have done 500 or so miles and there no oil on it yet, so i am not sure how old the old air fitler was. it was incredibly grubby non filtered side too. more so than i would expect on a road going vehicle. So i was wondering the above was relevant to the puma and if it had been tried. How many on here running catch cans?
