Most DRLs are controlled with a voltage sensitive controller so they're detecting the battery charging and think that the engine is running. That's to be expected.
Just to be sure that the sidelights aren't on too? |

Thanks, think it will take overnight to get a charge into the battery, if it won’t take a charge, then a new battery will be next

I assume it's the original battery?
just changed mine to a silver Yasa (or something like that from Halfords). seem alright but not started the engine since so can't be sure - looks nice though |

Nope, I changed the original last year to the same as you have, as that was dead, after 6 years.

The Ctek might not be able to charge a battery from totally dead. Does it have a boost mode or anything?
You might find you are better off jump starting the vehicle first to get a bit of charge into the battery before charging with the Ctek. Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

Ctek has a boost mode... got that on. any ideas why the alarm hasn’t sounded as it’s gone dead.... curious how that works. Now I’ve opened it with the key, when it comes back to a decent charge is the system, won’t the alarm sound, as the doors have been opened, but the system would not know or have been reset.

If you opened it with the key fob it will most likely have reset the alarm, if the battery has drained completely i would think everything will have reverted to stored fail safe settings |

CTEK won’t put any charge into the battery, going to try and jump it tomorrow, failing that, new battery. |

get an airflow battery conditioner on the old one if it comes out. that will bring it back to life. in my experience, despite being shot down here before they are far better than any CTek i have used. i currently have 3 not working CTeks and run 5 of these Airflows, the oldest few must be 10yrs+ and still going strong. https://www.airflow-uk.co.uk/product/battery-conditioner/ Cheers

Good tip James and at a much lower cost than the CTEK |

Have you got a battery back up alarm sounder? If yes, should have gone off unless the alarm sounder battery is also dead |
