Unhooking door electrics for removal
My doors have electric windows and central locking.

I know most defenders don't have these, but I do, and as I need to take the doors off to replace hinges, I'm a bit stuck as I cant' work out best way to disconnect.

I can see a nice little plug on the window motor, so I can un hook that, but I can't see properly the bottom of the C/L solenoid - should I expect a wiring connection I can just unplug?

i can't see well enough to identify.

The alternative of unplugging on the body side of the hinge is looking like a much bigger job (removing trim around pedals, inside door pillar etc and no idea if I'll find a nice connector to unplug or not.

Has anyone done this?

Please excuse the state of my door!

There is a harness connector in the A-post (and B-post on a vehicle with second-row seats) to allow the door to be unplugged from the vehicle.

If you pull the rubber sleeve away from the A-post you can manipulate the connector out of the A-post and unplug it.

In practice you don't usually need to disconnect the door from the vehicle to change the hinges, and you're generally better off supporting the door careful and changing one hinge at a time - this makes maintaining alignment easier.

Ok, that makes sense actually. I'll do it a hinge at a time
At least that means I can get the hinges changed, and worry about the horror show inside the door in a few weeks

I did have a look inside the door pillar, but I thought it would be optimistic to get the clips through the hole, but if you've done it that gives me a bit more confidence for when it does have to come off

It's easier on the B-post which has openings into the vehicle, but I don't think there is any other way to access the connectors on the A-post, from what I remember.
