Did none of you keep the plastic bag the ladder came in - we did...just put the ladder in that to pack it away! Mike

See my post re the bag. It's fine for the , not fine in sand and dust it when you carry other stuff up there which lessens ladder room |

the ladder takes hardly any room in ours and its only the plastic bag, so you can stuff things in each rung space (as we do anyway) - but we may be talking cross purposes Mike

I must have misread the welcome message from siteadmin then!! "Welcome to Defender2.net - Say hello here! Hi all, this is a bit overdue, but here goes! Welcome to Defender2.net, the new site for Defenders, mainly concentrating on Td5s and later but all are welcome Please say hello here, and do enjoy the site! Martin" Oh well, perhaps I'm better off on of the less exclusive fora. Tazz |

No, don't think we are. My requirements are these: Very fast put down - no time to pack things between rungs or inclination. no sand and dust in tent store clothes up there in addition to duvet, pillows etc. After a few days it doesnt matter that its in a bag, the bag gets dusty on the outside anyway, and full of sand inside. Impossible to keep bedding clean if using the ladder in the tent though it isnt a problem in the UK. |

I agree with you Mike about the ladder, I never store the ladder in the tent for the same reasons as you. I'm going to mount a couple of runners under the rack so I can slide it between the rack and the roof and also try and make a table similar to the one Front Runner make and slide that in the same way

Are we talking bars or patriot type? I love the idea of rails
I store my table on a boab space rack but it wouldn't fit a disco. Mind you any kind of shelf in the back high up would do. It's just held down with 2 bungies and never moves no matter what the terrain. It's a small lafuma with adjustable legs |

ok...not used ours in the desert, so ill defer to you - i know sand gets everywhere - but with a bit of care in ours all other conditions no dirt wet, or anything else gets in the bed.
You could just trap it to the side of the rack - wouldnt need anything significant Mike |

Not convinced about doing that mike, corrugation finds any weakness pretty much immediately. Would need a solid mount and some kind of robust retaining bracket. I use rhino bars too rather than solid rack

Patriot rack Mike but the idea would work on any rack or bars. didn`t have the ladder problem with my 110 as we used the Patriot ladder to access the tent and the last 900mm of rack behind the tent we could stand on.

I'm not exactly a skilled fabricator but what are we talking? decent sized 3 sided ally angle with a stop at the front of it and some kind of hinged bracket and retainer to go over the back?
One thing I did notice was that one of the guys had a hannibal rack and the normal tent ladder would hook over hte side bar of that. if you put the hooks in the tent in the normal way then it leaves small gaps where the hooks go where you cant tuck the fabric in leaving it a bit susceptible to blown sand |

Something along those lines have a look on the Front Runner website they have some good pics of their table slide. As for hooking the ladder on the side of the rack thats what i do with the D3 as the Patriot rack is wider than the tent so the side bars are exposed.
