You could always look at the fuse box under the seat, there will be a switched live under there

I'm debating tagging a switched live then using this to operate a relay that switches a live direct to an aux fusebox (also with its own in line fuse) and running any acc from this spare fuse box? (IYKWIM)

Why overcomplicate what you are trying to achieve? Just fit an auxillary fusebox like a Blue Sea and be done with it? Cannot see the point or benefit of switching the live feed to a fusebox via a relay at all? Any circuits fitted to the fusebox will be limited by the current carrying capacity of the relay you fit. It just means that anything you want to switch off when the ignition is switched off does. You can't forget and leave any aux stuff on to flatten the battery

Good point but like with spotlights the triggering signal is taken from an ignition switched signal and the main supply from the auxillary fusebox. Depends really how things are wired up but yes a basic belt and braces approach like yours would work to prevent battery drainage.
Dependant on how many circuits your auxillary fusebox will run once you get into the realms of 50 amps plus you may find the appropriate relay to switch it wil skyrocket in cost as it will have to be heavier duty. I fitted some DRLs to the bumper, then ran the wire up the wing and through the bulkhead so it would be logical to go straight into the back of the main fuse board, pick up switch live and fuse the circuit using one of the spare slots.
But i was pushed for time and tagged it on the fag lighter socket. I know it will be ok but it just bugs me knowing its not quite right. Plus i thought while i was in there i would run out a couple of other wires for future mods. I could get to the four m6 nuts but wasn't sure if the board would come out. Lee |

I needed to tag onto the lighter and sidelight fuse for my DRLs so I just used piggyback fuses like these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ADD-A-CIRCUIT-FU...3a7ae9135b There wasn't any other sensible option due to German laws about how the DRLs switch on and off. However, to make sure they wouldn't come out, I used crimpers to curve the blades a bit and now they sit very tight *Edit* I also thought it was "not quite right" to start with but then when you look at the way the rest of the vehicle is put together... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Hi
Sorry to drag up a really old thread but did you ever manage to remove the Fuse board ?? I'm looking to use some of the free fuse positions and was wondering the same thing ? |
