His brother doesn't seem to get much sponsor sadly, As I have seen him in the clios and a couple of races in the BTCC at croft. He hasn't won a race yet in the clios but he is working on it. Sometimes I wonder if he as the right car and team under him tbh. The btcc stint the car he drove wasn't all that up to scratch, and he had a few prangs with it. Which I think he blew his budget before the season final sadly. Shame he doesn't get looked after like his brother as I think he would go far too. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Lewis is obviously a very talented driver, but He's also had the best machinery under him, which is often the case when a driver wins a string of championships in whatever category.

funny you say that pickles, colin turkington won the BTCC champion ship with out winning a single race this year. just been pure consistent. But the car has been heavily wound back sadly with the toca, so it wasn't the fastest car on the grid compared to others. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Shame he doesn't seem to be a sportsman on TV.... looks and acts like a right spoilt brat to me.... always crying when he's not in front.
you only need to look in the "get your hats & watches on" room after the races pre-podium.. every other driver ignores him and he makes no effort to chat to them. |

I've supported Lewis Hamilton from the start of his F1 career.
However I think "Legend" is over the top. My personal Legends never did - and don't now - get paid £40,000,000 a year. |

I find it hard to fathom that great teams of old, Williams, McLaren are struggling like mad with lack of investment and a lack of major sponsors. I follow F1 but it seems to be lacking something. Too much technology, too much reliance on pit stops, safety cars and the tyre rules bring nothing to the party. A bunch of competitive cars with a manual gear sticks would be a start. Drop all the DRS stuff and bring back the skill of the driver.
Not taking anything away from Lewis, he is very competent. It’s just he has a pretty good car and a team that communicate well. Are you listening Ferrari? I really can see Williams going out of F1 and that would be a sad day. It’s just every time the F1 roadshow try to make things more competitive, it just seems to get more expensive. A positive from this weekend, the red hatching was a good idea. It keeps cars on the track but penalises them if the hatching is crossed |

The bit that's missing from F1 is...........risk.
All risk has been taken out of every equation. No risk.... no reward.....no entertainment. Last time i watched it properly was in the days of Nigel Mansell, who is to my mind a legend in the truest meaning of the word. He risked everything to win, absolutely everything. Amazing times, sadly, never to be again. To have such risk displayed so publically in this politically correct times would be like televising the bull fights on the BBC; viewer discretion is advised. |

Apparently Jackie Stewart's most important number is '57'. That's the number of fellow racers he knew who died during his career. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Legend is a bit strong. One of the best for sure but he never came close to winning anything unless sat in the very best car. Shuey went to crap Ferrari from dominant Benetton and took 2nd season there down to the last race against dominant Williams and McLaren....that’s legendary.

I'm no particular fan of Lewis, and after many years following F1 I'm loosing interest as the races are now so so boring.
However, the best driver on the grid inevitably ends up in the best car - I'm pretty sure Lewis is the best driver today, and particularly of latter years now he has matured (a little). Also he (& other top-paid young sports/pop stars) live in a world we can't relate to, it's no surprise he struggles to appear grounded - he's not. Finally, re. safety - I only want to watch a sport that has a risk of accident/crashing, without the risk of serious injury/death. Thankfully, I think F1 now provides this. I sure Mansell et al would agree. |

I have always been a motor sport fan but over the last 10 years i have found F! to be boring and no longer follow it.
It seems to me it is like a big version of a play station game I will bet Lewis is very good on a playstation. F1 is seriously over rated if you want to see real talent you cant beat Rally driving and motor cycle racing Moto GP in particular it is far more entertaining to watch. 2016 Defender Landmark 90 2005 Defender CSW TD5 90XS |

Funny you should mention Mansell. He was on the box yesterday saying he thinks Lewis will beat Schumacher 's record and be the best ever. Personally 'Best ever' will always be Senna for me and then Schuey but Lewis is up there. 5 titles earns legendary status in my book. Just as it did Fangio. Also a bit odd reading posts saying he only won because he had the best car when this year clearly he didn't.... |
