How cold should your bottom radiator hose be ?
Hi all,
just replaced the radiator in my 2004 TD5 .

Bled system nothing seems to be leaking anywhere but ....

The heater does belt out a LOT of hot air .. like its uncomfortable if you have it on full pelt. This is compared to the other TD5 that is well luke warm at best!

If I hold the top radiator hose after a run yup its warm, if I grab one of the other hosts . that connects to the plastic thermostat housing that's hot as well. If I grab the bottom radiator hose its stone cold.

Obviously once I get hold of a screwdriver to remove the radiator top cover I'll check if its warm at all. Wouldn't have expected that sort of temp difference between top and bottom hose on a std Britpart radiator. Just wondering if I should have changed the thermostat as well,

My experience is the same, even with a new thermostat. I think it's a simple case of the engine not putting out enough heat to get the thermostat fully open in most scenarios.

I have watched temperature on my nanocom and seen it oscillate around 90 degrees quite happily.

Realistically, the coolant system is sized for driving fully laden with 3+ tonnes on the back, in 35+ degree heat. October in England without a load on? less so!
