Hello
Pretty sure I have a price somewhere for a 110 Station Wagon Full external cage fitted with a inside bar also from Performance Direct was Full External with internal B hoop, £1325+VAT. They also need the car for a week. So I'm guessing it's a bit of a job.... It depends if your ok being without your car for maybe a bit longer as time and other stuff get in the way. Either way Its a measure 20 times and cut once type of job Others on the forum would have done this, one guy did it to a new adventure model It's doable that's for sure. Have you any specialist near you that you could get a price for if you provide the cage? |

Usually the cage needs tweaking/fettling to get it right, don't take it on lightly 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

I thought D44 supplied P&P cages, not SD, if so maybe that's why they didn't answer ? Since their forum was dropped I've no idea what they're doing though. Anyway, fitting a cage isn't difficult you just need to take your time and have a couple of mates to help out when needed. That said, I bought a custom cage for my 90 from P&P and they offered to fit it for an additional £500. At the time I thought that was too expensive so I decided to fit it myself... by about half way through the job I had come to the conclusion that £500 was a real bargain and if I buy another one I'm paying for them to fit it ! http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

Cages cost roughly the price of the cage to fit, according to SD.
I fitted a full external cage to my 110 DCPU. Wasnt too hard, started 11am Weds finished 8pm Fri working 8 - 10 hours a day. Full write up on Landyzone. Instagram @defender_ventures Empire Tuning - Agent |

Pick up the phone and call them? People make mistakes, I doubt they’ve ignored you on purpose

I think Devon 4x4 have a reputation for being real work and not being ridiculously expensive on labour

I fitted a few cages myself including a NAS SD on my current 110. Time depends if you fit an internal loop or not but the front wings have to come off in any case. I suggest 2-4 days but consider adding tasks like Dynamat or extra electrical cabling if you have to strip the cabin. This way you only do it once. Advantage is, you can do it in several steps if you need the car in between. m

Feels like we've discussed this a few times, perhaps worth searching out prior threads on the topic?
Anyhoo, installed a full external SD cage on my 110 by myself, can't recall the days but maybe 3? Certainly would have been easier at points with someone to help, but for the most part they'd be twiddling thumbs. It's not something I'd attempt without having some prior success with mechanical work, fabrication and installation of structures larger than you. You could end up with a Defender with a quarter of its body now worthless if you aren't careful. Despite the product, the SD instructions aren't that great, meaning that you have to (literally) nut out what fasteners make best sense where, fun times Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

The SD instructions are pretty awful but once you start it is all pretty straight forward. For me detailed info see here -
It is worth doing and very nice once you finish especially the savings! If you have a garage, grinder, dremmel and no fear of cutting into your landy then you'll have no issues. It is a LARGE undertaking not to be taken lightly but it is doable alone by the home mechanic. I didnt use any special tools or lifting kit bar an eyelet in the garage ceiling to support some of the cage when fitting. Another person would help. Problem areas are the wings, mainly which every one hasnt got a hole for an air intake. Can be a little time consuming. I also had issues lining up the rear crossmember supports, took a few hours at least. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/ban...68/page-38 Instagram @defender_ventures Empire Tuning - Agent |
