Again, the real issue is why isn't the company applying lessons learnt and ensuring they are not just repeating known failures? You can't be serious about calling yourself a premium brand and allow this to happen?

Just make these bulletins more difficult for the public to access, like the Germans do.

What a bizarre post on a car forum where sharing information is one of the key benefits.

I wonder how many owners on here have had an issue, gone to the main dealer, been told there problem is unique/not an issue/one they have never seen before, come online and found others with the same problem or even that there was a bulletin the dealer should have known about, and should have actioned.

Also, all German manufacturer bulletins are equally available publically ~ latest visible:

Audi ~ radio problems.
BMW ~ problems with bass speakers.
Mercedes ~ 3rd brake light issue.
Porsche ~ New parts promotion for all weather mats.
VW ~ Customer states fuel odour.

Point is all manufacturers have problems, especially with new models. The Defender is no different, so singling it out as such seems a bit odd (can you point on the doll to where JLR touched you?).

Definitely "odd" singling out JLR and the Defender - on a Defender forum. Banging Head

And as for that last sentence..... Rolling Eyes

Maybe Supacat can interpret it?

I can tell you now from first hand experience with many faults on my new Defender that supacat is the first person I would ask if there is any builtins for the problems.

Which, of course, is what one-marque forms are all about - the incessant sniping at the product and manufacturer at the same time are perhaps the “bizarre” thing.

It is the benefit to share the faults and fixes, but how proactive should we be...I don’t know, I do get annoyed when people spin a negative image that somehow JLR is worse than any other car make etc...put it this way, our Citroen at the time had more faults than the 3 land rovers during the same time period.

All cars have faults and it’s useful to know where to look...especially as dealers not JLR tend to be pants! Mike

I agree but what do you call negative spin?

Successive JD Powers reports ~ referenced by senior JLR management very recently.

Warranty costs that the same senior JLR management have labelled excessively high and a cause for concern.

A CEO that makes a public statement that "Jaguar Land Rover loses more than 100,000 sales annually due to customer perception of quality issues with its models".

It's a massive issue for JLR, not least because it's a self-proclaimed premium brand. To play it down or dismiss it does JLR, the brand, and current owners absolutely no favours.

The fact that senior management are now talking openly about it, will hopefully drive a genuine new culture within the business, where the good engineers will feel able to put their heads above the parapet and challenge things they know are wrong/bad.
