Didn't look that deep, but can't argue with the tape measure. They are a funny pair, I do enjoy their videos. James

Their measuring is a little hooky, since the first bit they "dipped" was by the bridge where the river is narrower and hence (usually) deeper, and the tide mark on the side reflects bow wave and other instantaneous effects. That being said, the depth did seem to be consistent at about the diameter of the wheels, so presumably about 31" or so.

To my mind that isn't a deep ford (deep to me means it reaches the door handles) but it is deep enough to be quite exciting if you are inexperienced in driving through fords.

You are certainly unlikely to need to open the door to stop the vehicle floating away with that little water!

Given the chassis-less aluminium unibody/monocoque structure of the new Def, I am sure that it isn't. At least, not unless you started with the old Def and shoe-horned a lot of new Def body panels onto it.

I am not sure that any SF personnel would relish the idea of a vehicle of that type which had 85 Landrover-installed and programmed ECUs either, at least not unless it was carrying the enemy forces pursuing them at the time!

it does look quite cool, though!

It's not impossible to create topless monococque vehicles (see Evoque Convertible)) - the sills tend to have be absolutely massive to make up for the loss of the frame over the top of the doors. But I would agree this would be a difficult build simply to stop it just folding in half like a book being shut! Hmm as someone who drove SWB and LWB land rovers in utility, mine proof, FFR and Snatch variants in
a number of operational environments/theatres over 9 years of service, we prayed we would not be in a
vehicle accident or “incident”. if it flipped, Censored all structure to protect you, and we were always aware
of that, the mine proof maybe a slight concession, but you would still end up in intensive care if you were
lucky. The old Landie without ecu’s had its weakness, which many in the Army were all to aware of. yet another pommie bar steward down under

low profile = kerbed rims = big bills (even without the total inability to take it off tarmac) - sadly you know the New Defenders are going to get pimped to death like RR Snorts in the past, especially the black ones fitted with illegally dark tints, and some UV strip lights underneath...
