That is supposed to be possible and there is an option in the dash in mine to connect to a home network but it doesn’t like to find my router from the drive. Not sure how much range my BT router has. 4G Coverage Yes they (all the mobile phone companies) always quote coverage by percentage of the population rather than percentage of the land mass which is why those of us who live in the sticks quite regularly have to laugh at anything which requires a good data cellular connection!
I believe they have 5G in the smoke of the big towns. There are still people who live in my village who remember mains water being connected. I can remember the village being connected to mains sewerage. Not sure JLR, or any other car manufacturer come to that requires mains cold water or waste water connections yet Interesting to know how long a download would take on a 4G signal. It must be set up to download segments so if the data connection was lost, it would carry on later and not have to start again? I expect the Main Dealer would upgrade / update any software at an annual service if you really did only drive your motor in a lead lined box or parts of North Norfolk (both known for their lack of mobile signals). |

Depends on whether you live in a Castle in Scotland Tim with 4ft thick walls. If you do, I don't fancy your routers chances. My BT Router will give an adequate wireless signal outside of a 1970's built brick bungalow. Unless you park the opposite side of your house to your router, I would expect that you should be able to hook it up to your home network. They advertise the BT router as being one of the best - but then they are trying to flog their broadband |

1980’s timber frame bungalow here Rashers, if I had enough money to live in a castle I’d be running my own gloomed offroad tracks on the surrounding land or renting it out to people for squillions for shooting and would possibly be off-roading a Range Rover on the company rather than 2 Defenders at my expense! Well it is the glorious twelfth. Glorious as long as you are not a Grouse. Maybe they have the alternative miserable twelfth? I would assume that you would get a signal from your router. I pick up both our neighbours wireless signals outside and one of them is a fair way across the other side of the road. I assume it will be like a phone or tablet, it well you search for a network? |

Dunno if its correct, but my dealer advised me that you can disable mobile updates and set it to only connect to your home router for updates when at home.

OK braved the heat in the car - only 35c on the external temperature sat in the sun on the drive.
Searched and connected fine after enabling External WiFi in the Connectivity menu, it found all my neighbour’s routers some of which are not secure I see, as well as mine, selected my own, key pad appeared to type in the password and it connected in about 5 seconds. There is now a Wifi connectivity fan icon on the main screen just below and to the left of the clock and below the 4G signal strength indicator Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior.
