Is that a yellow or red card? I'm thinking it's serious enough for red.

I would think that as a aluminium monocoque which is probably bonded together it will be a very difficult and expensive vehicle to repair, even before the electrical system becomes involved. I imagine it will be very easy indeed to write off with relatively minor looking body damage.

JLR's marketing bumf talks repeatedly about it being a monocoque, or based on a monocoque, I think that's stretching it a bit (excuse the pun). It's really a unibody construction, no different to other recent offerings like the D5. The size of the individual panels will determine the scale of repairs if sectioning is not allowed.

“The body of the new Defender is aluminum intensive. There are other materials used strategically around the body and vehicle but we’ve only used the right material in the right place, each for a benefit.”

Maybe those people who are expressing a liking for this new Defender are doing so due to the effects of the Covid19 self isolation? JLR could be in bother when things get back to normal Mr. Green 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I agree that the PDI should have found it, my point really was that it shouldn't have been there for the PDI to find.

Spare a thought, it could have always been worse...

Just caused a Ferrari owner to sulk - went to the garden centre - usual line up of various Land Rover products plus a 20 plate drop head Ferrari of sone sort......... Pull in and parked next to me, when I came out there is a couple looking at my car with a teenage lad........... Ferrari owner passes close to me and mutters it should be his car they should be looking at,not a Land Rover- the lad must have heard the guy and loudly commented “Ferrari’, common as muck, nobody has seen a new Defender.......” Ferrari guy turns pink, and comments “oh it’s a new Defender, my other car is a Range Rover, can I have look please!” Rolling with laughter

I saw that Lambo reported on the BBC News App and had a quiet chuckle - at least I’ve now got passed two weeks and 300 miles and no “mechanical failures” Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Does anyone know what the two prongs that are sticking up through the roof of the Lambo are? Is it some kind of pop-up rollover protection?

I am intrigued by the way that the police supposedly refer to the hitter as being "an innocent motorist". Presumably that would be an "innocent motorist who was driving too fast or too close to stop before hitting the stationary object in the road in front", which I always thought was an offence.

It's the back bit of his roof rack. He'd got an old settee on it which fell off, hence he'd stopped, and he lost the front two fittings in the collision.

What...?
