Don’t buy a diesel because you’ll have nothing but issues with the DPF they say Rolling with laughter

On a serious not it’s pretty poor show by LR. To me seemed a very simple fix. I believe though that GPFs don’t like to be thrashed they need to be driven at low speeds to regen.

The melted plastic clip is the device that holds the hose retaining clip open prior to assembly and it should have been pulled off the hose clip as soon as the hose was pushed onto its spigot. The fact it was still on the hose clip strongly suggests to me the hose had never been pushed onto the spigot, and to leave to factory in that condition (and pass a PDI) is a pretty poor show. Not to mention two call-outs to LRA which achieved nothing, yet the owner found the problem very rapidly.

i commented on the video, on how useless the dealers are really are. The owner fixes it on the drive with out a bother. So this is the 1st new defender to fixed on the drive. I can see that system been binned off down the road i think, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

It seems PDI is where a lot of dealers fall short.

I would have had a go at the management telling them to get their fingers out of their arses, and check things properly Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

The problem is that LR only pays them for IIRC 2 hours to carry out the PDI and it’s a tick box exercise. You would think with a crucial new model that more time and more thorough checking would be the instruction for the first 5-6 months, but no it’s those counters of baked beans at work again. I’ve been two years out of buying a new LR product and the difference between Mini and LR is stark - in effect JLR don’t give a s*it once it’s left the factory. I would imagine that PowerfulUKs experience will lead many buyers to think “Oh well no change at LR then, not worth buying one” I note that in the delivery video with Charlie and his Lotus Evora, in the comments there is a post from LR........... they don’t seem to be commenting on any other videos that might show them in poor light, not even an apology. The only response I’ve had to my issue with the centre screen sign in and the phone app has been “the dealer will fix it” Problem is I went out of my way to explain that the dealership was unable to fix it. Customer service for LR’s iT people down in the south is very disappointing and really is spoiling my early ownership experience. When you spend £60500 on a brand new model you expect to get some help from the people that build it if the dealer cannot sort out the issue. Lordy I spent £40k on a Mini and I was treated like their most valued customer for the one tiny problem I had in 2 years of ownership. The hope that this car is going to survive after the warranty runs out is fading rapidly.......... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I recon it will cost a bomb to fix if things start to go wrong once the warranty is out sadly, one of the lasses i work with has had nothing but trouble with her disco, electronics wise. To the point her and other half are strongly thinking on moving it on. Because the price of fixing it when the warranty expires will be pure silly. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

True, though I can’t fault my dealer. Any issues I’ve had have been dealt with swiftly. Sadly though due to Covid they won’t reopen and all business will be transferred to Dundee dealership.

Begs the question of what the LR Assist person actually did, other than read a code and say take it to the dealers?

I thought from reading the comments on the earlier video that LR HQ had made contact with him, so I was expecting it to go all quiet whilst it was fixed. If they were involved then it's a double whammy. The third part of the Censored poor performance is what the dealer appears to have told him and the way they have treated him. He's quite literally their lifeblood in these times and they appear to have no concept of customer service.

The sooner they all go to the wall the better...

Why should a dealer be expecting a payment for doing a PDI? Surely it should be done so the product is 100% surviceable for the customer. In fact it should leave the factory 100% serviceable for the customer. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Good write up Tim. As a former estate agent I know only too well wha garages are really used for. I think we all do.

On the iPhone, I’m think that message is due to a common fault on the iPhone, and more likely than not is not the infotainment system‘s fault. I’ve lost any opportunity to connect to my WiFi at home, despite the phone having been connected to it for months. Did a standard iOS upgrade one night and boom, all ability to connect to WiFi stopped. Have rebooted, returned to an older iOS etc, but it’s not having any of it. Connects to all other WiFi just not home. So you might need to check what is going on with your phone as much as the system. BTW, this glitch doesn’t seem to affect iPads or all phones. My wife has the same phone as me, same iOS, plus we have two iPads, none of which have the problem. Monsieur Le Grenadier

That dude at one minute........ does he drive a 2015 Heritage Edition Defender 110 by any chance?

It has been suggested elsewhere in the forums that I delete my account at InControl Remote and create a new one using a new email address and password. I haven’t tried that yet but will do later today but that does seems a rather extreme way to access the LR app.
I’m very happy with the support from the dealership, they have gone the extra distance to assist it’s JLR’s lack of ownership of the problem that riles. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
