Have fun! I'll be interested to hear how you compare it to the D5 and why you will (hopefully) be changing from D5 to New Defender? When i saw it side by side (without driving) to the D5, at similar sort of money you seemed to get a lot more with the D5. The 110 was also much smaller. Never liked the D5, best car i had was the D3. The D5 is a really nice place to be and supremely capable but i just don't like it.
I don't look after our cars either, they get very muddy on the inside and I generally get stung at trade in replacing interior components. I want something a bit more utilitarian on the inside, no carpets also appeal to reduce dog smell. I once had a quote from a coach builder to rip out the carpets in my new D4 and rubberise it the cost was eye watering. LR should offer rubberised boots on all models! 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE RR MY23 HSE PHEV D5 MY19 HSE - Now Sold D4 MY16 HSE Luxury - Now Sold D4 MY12 HSE - Gone D3 MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten |

"Unlike other markets, Australian-delivered Defenders will come with Terrain Response and adjustable air suspension as standard."
Does that just mean they can't order the cheaper variants, or are these bundled in a subsidised or even foc way? |

The UK gets air suspension as standard on the 110, and all Defenders have TR, only difference in the UK the 90 has coils so doesn’t get Rock crawl or the wade setting as they automatically adjust the air suspension.
So I assume the Oz 90s will have air? |

Isn't there an upgrade option on the TR?

lazy reporting i suspect from the Aussie motoring journalists. All 110's which are the first to launch here have the standard air suspension and TR, so nothing different from other markets. If you want TR2, that is a chargeable option/upgrade. You can order a basic 110 D200 in Australia, and from the S model up you can also spec the P400 6 cylinder Petrol MHEV, which is a bonus if you do not fancy the D200/D240 and are to impatient to wait for the D300 whenever that will be launched. the P300 4 cylinder petrol is not available in the Australian market yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

Finally, some proper off-roading with a direct comparison between old & new Defender, although the driver does not seem to know what he's doing...
Clearly the driver is new to off-roading, and it also doesn't seem like that 110 has the rear e-diff. He also clearly doesn't know how to get the TC to work properly. But even without the rear e-diff, it shouldn't have gotten stuck so much. I would have walked that hill in my D4 and RRS -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

..articulation is so poor , compared to old truck...and of course, design touch, plastic crap, falling off..this is not a 'D' from Defender..however, i think, better driver will help for sure..

Articulation looked better than the old 110 but the modified 90 done well, the guy just made a complete hash of it. Also didn’t look like he was using rock crawl on the TR. The grey one went up without a fuss, I’ve seen D3/4s and 5s dance up stuff like this. Inexperience and poor wheel/tyre combination played a big part.

It does highlight the vulnerability of all that plastic trim low down on the front. I bet there wouldn't be any change from a grand or so to replace the broken bits. (Or possibly more knowing JLR's spare part pricing!!)

The plastic along the doors ain’t too expensive to replace, I to replace both on my D4. The front will be with it housing the front park sensors.
