I believe that’s the area in which they get the car stuck in order to demonstrate the winch.

I would probably feel better about the new model if every review didn't devote a third of the copy to just slagging off the old model. It's boring, insulting, and frankly its sloppy journalism. 2011 110 USW

^^^ It could be argued that that is either JLR's fault or McGovern's fault. If JLR hadn't allowed this new model to be called 'Defender' or McGovern hadn't decided that it should be the successor to our Defenders, then the comparison would never be made. By calling it Defender, selling and marketing as Defender, getting the PR machine working full time to allude to how good this Defender is (and whilst not directly saying so, implying that the old one wasn't as good, iconic or not), a journalist is automatically going to compare the two. I also have no doubt that the differences between old and new are rammed down their throats during their JLR organised test days. It'll only change when the vehicle is on the open market and available for journos to test them independently and compare them alongside other brands. Monsieur Le Grenadier

I recall my salesman saying they had to get stuck and winch the car out, but as the day went on it became a swamp. Unlucky for the last group of the day. Click image to enlarge |

The Gondwana Gold V8 prototype in the link posed by NAKS looks like it has severe bramble rash .................or the expensive clear wrap is quite matte finish Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

The wrap gives a matt effect. Personally not a fan, I’d rather pay a fraction of the price and get one of those clear wraps.

^ Take a standard I6 model off the production line. Deliver it to the SVR Engineering dept. Fit V8 engine, gearbox and electrics.
Job done, one prototype V8 Defender. It even says "Prototype vehicle" on the front grille. Last edited by DSC-off on 25th Apr 2020 2:37pm. Edited 1 time in total |
