a number of my fellow RRS/D4 owners and I have done overland excursions across Australia such as the Kimberleys, Cape York, etc, anything between a 6-10K round trip, and the D4's/RRS have done it with ease, with little or no modifications, apart from maybe LLAMs lift kits, a decent set of off road tyres.. Like you, i think the old Defender is a classic and a great vehicle, but i am more comfortable and safer in my RRS when we head out.. oh and we take a fridge so we can keep food fresh, no need to go into bear grylls mode and start hunting the local wildlife for bush meat yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

There’s definitely going to be a PHEV but it will be either the end of this year or start of next year before it’s launched.

I think definitely and JLR's plans for the Defender don't really go hand in hand; and that was before the current world was turned upside down.
Will there be the demand, money for final development (assuming initial work has already been done); or will they just wait until they move to the MLA platform and there's no additional model specific costs? |

Perhaps
I don’t fancy the cost of a Defender EV or PHEV. |

I currently have a 90 and the next upgrade for me in terms of more tech, slightly better comfort and more spacce that i would still off road in the alps is this.
I imagine much better build quality and reliability too. I just hope the new one keeps pushing the prices down. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ad...dal=photos |

It is like some one setting you up on a blind date. You are told how wonderful the unknown party is. You are given lots of info to whet your appetite and to get you in the right frame of mind for the initial meeting. Your expectations are high...Wonder what the first meeting will be like? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

not so much about the new Defender, but more about why its now time for something new.
Some chats with some long standing LR owners and overrlanders such as the Ives brothers etc. Over 2:15 long.. so if you cannot abide any criticism of the old Defender, even from a harden fan, then do not bother hitting the link.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bi7yyMaS3K...-wGQB0AxPI yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |
