Thumbs Up used to manage the dunes of New South Wales on standard Continentals on my old Sport..
no suspension lifts, or enormous offroad tyres.. unlike many of the Toyotas and Nissans, who's owners

Given JLR's less than stellar reputation for reliability they probably are lucky, that they bought a jeep instead. Laughing

There is just one thing I really don't like on the car and that's the horrible plastic inserts on the hood!

The reaction of old Defender, D1-D3 and old Range Rover owners when I took my RRS and L322’s on quite challenging offroad days was also totally negative........... until they rode in and saw what they could do in great comfort and with so much torque then they soon shut up and we’re more than a bit surprised. That I could do it using TR on factory issued tyres amazed them more! I don’t doubt that the new Defender will surpass all JLR products that have gone before it.

But did you then suffer with the various knocks and bangs when back on the road from failure of the various and multiple suspension bushes which were designed mainly for road use and whilst would do the job off road required changing on a much reduced life cycle?

This is the thing that the new Defender must fix with it's claimed durability; not having to replace numerous suspension bushes, rod ends etc because they've worn out after 60k road miles.

Never kept any modern one passed the warranty expiry except my last SDV6 RRS which was he best built of the lot (pity about the worry of a snapped crank though which why I sold it), only one needed new bushes in my ownership and that was the one that did least offroad work - 2007 TDV8 HSE and worn bushes at the front were a known problem on that model. The TDV8 I had had replacement bushes under warranty about 8 months into its life and then no more were needed Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Another holding video with a pre pro on a well made track with a professional driver in it. My neighbours XC90 wouldn’t have any issues with that expectation. 1951 80" S1 2.0

Good spot ~ Google translate makes a right hash of the German, either that or the journo is a right plonker.

Not sure the driving shown in the video demonstrates any of the benefits of the sophisticated 4wd software either.

Thats not the first off road drive. Journalists have yet to have a proper drive in the Defender.

Auto Express and AutoCar had this same type of drive a few months back, only difference is this one is undisguised.

I'm not piling on the hate, because I'm trying to like it - but have to say my missuses Golf could manage that!
It's not much different to my school run (when I take the Friday scenic route).

In the first video on the German magazine’s site it looks seriously like JLR missed a trick not fitting the RRS HSE Dynamic suspension setting in the Terrain Response - chronic body lean should be a thing of the past on modern air suspended Land Rovers Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
