I’m intrigued to see where this ends up being positioned in the range. You can barely get a Discovery Sport for under £40k and you can spec one up to more than £60k, so-if the new Def inhabits the same kind of price range I can see it just cannibalising sales of that car. Who’d buy a Disco Sport if you can have a Def for not much more? It’s hard to imagine the more expensive versions not just just doing the same to D5 sales, especially given the Marmite looks of the current model. I just can’t see the gap in the current LR range for it to slot into. Can it be such a different product that it won’t have more or less the same target market as the current cars are aimed at? Perhaps it is going to give D5 sort of chassis and drivetrain, better off road, but with a much less premium feeling, more utilitarian interior to put it in Discovery Sport price bracket??? I’m sure they’ve got a plan, just to see what it is. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

You do realise that was the DC100, right? As JLR has been at pains to point out many times, the DC100 and the new Defender have nothing to do with each other. Oh, and the Kia Soul debuted at the 2008 Paris motor show Now left. Last edited by What puddle? on 29th Aug 2019 9:32pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Just had a thought, after all this extreme testing in far off lands has JLR actually tested their latest SUV in a multi story car park?
In our old D3 i remember in the past parking it only then to find i could not get out of the door, recently i parked the 90 next to a badly parked RRS and got out easily due to the narrower width. Guess that will be a thing of the past for many. Oh well the dealer will happily sell you the small damage repair to cover the car park dents. |

Speaking of car parks, I had been pondering what possible use there could be for the oddly positioned strips of chequer plate on the bonnet.
Today at Waitrose the penny finally dropped when I witnessed a lady put her handbag on the bonnet of her RR sport in order to fish stuff out. Absolutely brilliant! Gerry is a genius. No longer will your Louis Vuitton scratch the paintwork when out shopping. |

What a puddle
We were discussing the kia soul ev, which was released in 2013 after the Dc100 concept in2011, diferent cars, no other concept was shown for the l663. If you genuinely think the new defender has anything even remotely similar to the 2008 kia soul, then mate, im probably going to ignore your posts as there is zero facts to it other than slander imo. Back on subject shall we, start a new thread if you would like to discuss kias. Click image to enlarge |

Blackrangie,
May I ask, do you work on behalf of JLR’s social media marketing team? |

Zed, your post has been reported as previously mentioned, it is not good for this forum to have anyone posting positively vilified, however if someone posts negativly consistently its completly fine by you (are they paid by toyota or jeep?) If you think someone being excited and posting facts snd news about the new defender has to be paid, then i would have to question your authentisity as a LR fan. This passes the time for me until reveal, im a facts guy, i post them and if someone posts something non factual, in all fairness to the brand i love i will say something. Dont like it, there are plently more threads or just keep scrolling, I have been paying JLR since my mid teens, via 6 of thier vehicles, but if you know of a way for them to pay me for being passionate about the brand i love, im all ears!
