Winch wiring question: mass connect
I've installed a winch and everything is fine except...

Used gwynn-lewis 50mm2 cables and a 1000A switch instead of the original stuff that came with the winch.
I'm having trouble connecting the mass wire as the battery clamp does not allow me to connect it, without having a loose battery clamp.
Cannot replace the clamp, as the main car wire is integrated direcly into the clamp. Is this the wire from the starter? If I disconnect that, my alarm goes off.

However I do have a dual battery setup and I see a wire connecting the two masses. I think it is a 30cm 35mm2 or 25mm2 cable.

I'm wondering how others solved that issue. Can i connect the winch mass to the second battery mass instead, or will that overheat the connecting thinner mass wire? Is there another safe solution?

I would strongly recommend using the main battery as the one to connect the winch too as it isn't just the wiring but the split charge relay is going to have to deal with the extra load too, rather than sharing it when connected to the main.

When I have installed split charge in the past I have used 4 Post type terminals http://www.simplysplitcharge.co.uk/store/1...inals.html and then used eye terminals http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/prod...-terminals to connect from post to post on the batteries. For the integrated wire you mention on the positive (red) then yes there is a starter as well as a main feed I have removed the OE fixings and again put eye terminals on them so they fit onto the new post terminals.

If you put the key in the ignition to position one (So the radio works etc) then off and remove the main red connector within 15 seconds the alarm will not sound.

This way you can connect the OE vehicle feeds and the winch mass wires too and from the battery terminals easily Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest

As above I would remove the vehicle original fitments and the feeds coming in and put them straight to the main battery terminal with your winch positive Cheers

Sorry, but all the suggesties require me to spend lots of time searching someone who can do this, which I would like to avoid.

I think I found a solution: as I can weld, I' m gonna make something like this

Using a long nut and a bolt and drill one end conical.

After, I disagree, my suggestion requires a hacksaw, a pair of pliers a hammer and some cable ends and about 30mins work. Cheers
