Well, they’re numpites. I gave them all the details and they still want to hike the premium. So I’m off to find another insurer tomorrow. They’ll lose two cars and house insurance over it, and they don’t seem to care.
Hell’a business model. |

I use NFU local office in Alton, Hants and they have been very good. I have a 150HP BAS tune and other bits n bobs all declared and no problems or heavy premiums.

Different NFU branches are like different insurance companies. Keep trying branches 'til you get an acceptable quote.

Sorry to resurrect this one, but A-Plan just quoted me £70 additional Premium to add a BAS 165bhp remap to my Puma. I was rather disappointed with this.....especially after reading some of the above posts. Apparently an 'automatic hike' if a Remap is done whereas all other mods don't affect the insurance at all.

I’m with Greenlight insurance. Great guys. They will add a remap for free and all modifications are covered like for like

I use my local nfu office, superb people, competitive quotes on house and vehicles. A real joy to deal with. A direct number and one person as poc, I can't ask for more. Cheers

I’m with NFU (at least 15 years) too always been brilliant, whole family is with them now too. They do either want you to have your home insurance or farm with them first before they’ll do you other products though- don’t forget they’re a mutual society. The extra cost that they sometimes charge is worth it in the long run in in my eyes, they never quibble and will swap you across or change you and never charged yet. eg I rented a van for a few days recently and they swapped me onto it and didn’t charge me a penny.
Ever had a claim with some of the budget insurance companies and you’ll understand what I mean very quickly |

Hi Mark,
Depending on the other mods, can I suggest you try LV=. I moved my 2012 XS 110 SW to them this month for £215. It is on a multi car policy though with a couple of other regular vehicles. It has a 150BHP remap, winch and towbar, and I have 9 years NCB on the Defender. Should mention that I have no connection to LV=, other than being a new customer. |
