Why's that Nick? I'm genuinely interested to know as in my experience it's been fine
It's the same viscosity as OAT, it's has all of the correct corrosion inhibitors as OAT and mixes with water as per OAT. I've experienced no leaks, hose or cooling problems with my Td5 (apart from when the head locating dowels broke) Having just completed a trip around the Nürburg Ring and a 1500 mile drive there and back at mostly European motorway speeds never once did I have any worries about the coolant system. 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Surely Prestone isn't really an all system coolant? It still mixes with water like any regular antifreeze but is just a different chemical approach. Darren

Hmmmm so they advertise a coolant set @ ~£240 and seem to have combined some hoses. Paddocks will sell you a silicone top hose and 2 other long smaller bore hoses at a total of £150 So what about the heater matrix hoses ? That seems to be another option on the roose motorsport site @ ~£100 I've ordered a 3 hose set from www.lhss.co.uk made out of OAT silicon for £130 + VAT + £8.50 p&p so now not sure if that includes hoses to the heater matrix... sounds like it doesn't A Santa - 1977 Series 3 - new chassis, tub, disc brakes,SU Carb Gertie - 1999 110 TD5 - like a Phoenix from the ashes back on road... almost Effie - 2004 110 TD5 County |

I was faced with buying part sets from various suppliers not fully knowing for sure what was included etc. what I do have now from Roose is a set which covers every hose on the water side of my Td5, even the small vent ones. for me I couldn't see the sense in just changing some & not others!
Mine are all now fitted & follow the routing of the original LR rubber ones, so I'm very happy with my purchase.[/u] |
