Great Uncle
My defender has now got a Great Uncle to look up to. Whilst taking our dogs for a walk on bank holiday mon. We saw this lovely series one in a yard less than two miles from home. On asking the guy who was in his garden if we could take a look he informed us that it was for sale. After convincing ourselves that we needed it ,and living with someone who recognises a thing of beauty ,we became the very proud owners of another land rover.
It is a 1956 88inch it is not 100% original ,and has a series 3 engine ,but drives really well and only needs a little bit of TLC to make it just right and get it right for the next 60 years.
No tax ,no MOT, cheap insurance, and great fun to drive,we have told ourselves that we can't go wrong ,and after all its only money.

It has had 4previous owners and spent a lot of its time as a garage tow truck in the south east . Had quite a large referb. in the 90s for which I have photos. The best bit is that I have the buff log book with it and a mass of historical receipts etc.
As most old vehicles it has had a life ,but it wears it well and each dent ,and scratch ,can tell a story and make it so interesting to own.

Just an update on my series 1 . Have put on a new canvas and changed the wheels and tyres ,trying to keep an authentic look.
We took a run up to Eastnor Castle to the heritage day, which was a low key enjoyable day with access to the house and gardens.
