Vibration and changing diffs
I have a vibration coming from the back ( I think ) that only occurs when you are just touching the throttle, accelerating or on the overrun it is fine. It is not engine speed related but does increase with road speed. The vehicle runs an auto box and BW transfer box ( don't really think these are significant but open to suggestions) and a Quaife rear diff. I have check the rear prop as this was my first thought but the ujs seem fine but while I had the prop off I changed the rear diff back to the standard one which worked fine when it was remove about 40k ago. This has reduced the vibration a bit but it has not gone completely.
Is it possible that the Quaife rear diff exagerates a vibration that shows up less with the standard diff as the standard one has only sat in the garage for the last few years and it had no vibration when it was taken out and the Quaife fitted. It would seem strage that both diffs have developed a vibration especially as one has been sitting on a shelf. I have considered the transfer box but the rear output does not appear to have any play in it and I would have thought you would have felt it through the seat as you sit practically on top of it.
