Just got from Iceland where we’ve been for two weeks exploring the North of the Iceland. We had a Land Crusier as a hire car. So direct comparison with the Hilux
LC slightly more comfortable but suspension felt soft and we travelled light with just two aduults on board. Permanent four wheel drive was reassuring on roads with winter conditions Hilux has a lot more load space, obviously but the LC was definitely too small for overlanding for us. I’m happy with our choice of the Hilux, as a family we need the extra space. If it was just the two of us if may be a LC sitt9on the drive. |

LOL I've enquired on these too... "Sorry no, we can only sell to a Government quango". Tempted to print up some dodgy paperwork and rent an office in Mayfair to swing it ![]() |

If anyone is serious about a 70 series, it is apparently easy enough to bring one in from Japan, although it would probably be petrol though. Before I bought my Defender I enquired with a company here called Torque GT who could take care of everything, including sourcing cars to my quality requirements, bidding up to a prescribed limit at auction and taking care of shipping taxes and UK testing and registration. At the time I think they were quoting low £30k to get a nearly new low mileage petrol double cab pick up on the road here.
If you fancy a more DIY approach, you can buy direct online here https://www.tradecarview.com/used_car/toyota/landcruiser%2070/ WARNING, this website is addictive! Prices can include all cost to get the car on a ship to here. You would be responsible for everything once it lands (taxes, SVA/IVA, registration etc.). No idea what mods would be required to pass the IVA test, other than a fog light. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |
