Looking at the paperwork that came with my new landie, I see it had its centre box and catalytic converter removed by first owner I only know because main dealer put a note saying it 'may void warrantee' on the service receipt. Yet it passed its next MOT the following year fine, which puzzles me as I assumed you had to have a cat in order to meet emissions - anyone else have experiance of catfree MOT's

As above
A cat served no useful purpose on a diesel system and it isnt a requirement to have one fitted.
Most diesels run better with the cat removed as it free's up the gas flow from engine Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.
